A Pleasant Afternoon

I guess I have been neglectful at posting this past while, it just didn’t seem as though any of my weekly events would be worth posting for any one to read. That is until this afternoon.
It began on a very pleasant note, as we attended, with invitation to join the students and teachers in the Gym at Ross School for some entertainment. This was put on by the kid’s choir and we were also treated to the cheer-leaders as they performed some of their cheers.
I perhaps should clarify that it wasn’t just we two who received the invitation, but it was open to any of our residents here at the apartment. We have for about the last four to five years been treated to the Ross school choir coming here to entertain us, so on this occasion we were invited there. It certainly was much appreciated, and they did so well, as all school kids do.
We had another pleasant surprise when we saw our "paper girl" Burkie Harris, of about seventeen or more years ago there as a teacher, and also to see her mother receiving a token of appreciation for being a volunteer coach for one of the sports. During the time Burkie, and before that her brother delivered papers, their Mom did her share of it as well as collecting, so we enjoyed touching base again. By the way, Brett and Beckie you will know this lady as Mrs Harris.

Why God Created Children

To those of us who have children in our lives, Whether they are our own, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren or nieces and nephews... here is something for you.
Whenever your children or granchildren are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to His own children.
After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. And the first thing he said was "DON'T!" "Don't what?" Adam replied. "Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said.
"Forbidden fruit ? We have forbidden fruit? Hey Eve., we have forbidden fruit!"
"No Way!" "Yes Way!" "DO NOT EAT THE FRUIT! " said God.
"BUT WHY?" they asked
"Because I am your Father and I said so! " God replied, wondering why He hadn't stopped creation after making the elephants. A few minutes later, God saw His children having an apple break and He was NOT PLEASED! "Didn't I tell you not to eat the fruit? " God asked.
"Uh huh," Adam replied. "Then why did you? " said the Father. "I don't know," said Eve.
"She started it! " Adam said.
"Did not! " "Did too! " "DID NOT! "
Having had it with the two of them, God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.

BUT THERE IS REASSURANCE IN THE STORY!

If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be hard on yourself. If God had trouble raising children, what makes you think it would be a piece of cake for you?
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT!

1.You spend the first two years of their life teaching them to walk and talk. Then you spend the next sixteen telling them to sit down and be quiet.
2.Mothers of teens now know why some animals eat their young.
3.Children seldom misquote you. In fact, they usually repeat word for word what you shouldn't have said.
4.The main purpose of holding children's parties is to remind yourself that there are children more misbehaved than your own.
5. Parents childproof their homes, but they are still getting in.
6. Grandchildren are God's reward for having survived your own children.

ADVICE FOR THE DAY:
Be nice to your kids. They will choose your nursing home one day.

This posting is from Cal, thought you may enjoy it, as I did.

Yes I'm Back

No I haven’t been on vacation, just away from posting, so I guess the only reason for my absence is I just haven’t put my mind to post something that I think may be of interest. However as you read the postings on Lew & Kathy’s, Brett’s, and Beckie & Kevin’s blog its easy to get the feeling that there is more than a hint of interest and excitement building as they anticipate baby’s arrival.
However I do have something of interest I want to share in my posting as its not every day
that I get to anticipate what it will be like to be a Great Grandmother.
This special arrival will be the first of many things, first child, first grandchild, first time uncle, and first great grandchild. How special!! as we get to anticipate what this will be like.
Anticipation is different for each one, and I know Beckie has shared some of hers, but have you thought that baby may have anticipations too.
The following was sent to me by way of e-mail, and I feel it is very fitting to be included in this posting.

A Newborns Conversation With God
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said "your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said "Your angel will sing to you and will also smile for you, and you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy."
And again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you,?
God said your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I won’t see you anymore."
God said, " Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that time there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth
could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, " God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angels name."
God said you will simply call her , "Mom."

So this is for you Beck's, and all mothers.
